Graduation Card with Newton's Nook Designs

Hello everyone!  Today is my day to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog.  I decided to share a graduation card I made for a friend using Fetching Friendship and Simply Sentimental along with some pretty graduation themed papers by Doodlebug (I loooove Doodlebug papers!!):

Doggie Graduation Card by Crafty Math Chick | Fetching Friendship & Simply Sentimental by Newton's Nook Designs

The recipient of this card owns a beagle mix and although Fetching Friendship is really a Labrador Retriever set, I thought that by itself this dogie image might resemble a beagle mix.  I colored him to match his coloring with Copic markers and fussy cut him out.  I created the graduation cap from a scrap piece of black cardstock by cutting a rhombus of the appropriate size and them rounded off the bottom of another piece to create the piece under the flat top.  To create the tassel I tied a knot in an end of a small piece of red embroidery floss and affixed it to the center of the top of the cap using a rhinestone stud (which also serves as his license and tags, gotta have those!); here is a close up:

I created the sentiment using three different sentiment pieces from Simply Sentimental, then punched a few glittery and shiny stars for accents.  And TA DA, card complete!  I hope you like it.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog to see my creations and for all the kind comments you take the time to leave, I appreciate every single one of them.  have a great day!

Happy Father's Day with Lawn Fawn

Happy Father's day to all the Dad's out there.  Ty asked me to make a card for him to give to his Daddy and I was happy to oblige.  I decided to use my Lawn Fawn 'Critters in the Dog Park' images and dies along with their Puffy Star Stackables dies to make this card:

I tried to color the pup like our Ty Baby using Copic Markers and decided to make the card in a star shape with striped paper from My Mind's Eye so it met this week's Lawnscaping 'Stars & Stripes' challenge:

Added some star-shaped rhinestones in champagne and honey colors as well for accents.  I gotta tell ya - I LOVE working with these coordinating dies!  I wish I could afford more of them - when I have enough money saved up though, I usually opt for getting a larger variety of stamp sets than matching dies, but they are pretty tough to resist.

Thanks so much for stopping by the see my blog.  I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Father's Day, even if all your children only have paws.

This is for a friend who owns a black lab (black is so tricky to color without losing the image outlines).  I hope she likes it.  I just LOVE this expression of this pup looking up at its human for attention and guidance!  The papers are from the WOOF! collection by The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby and the rhinestones are from Recollections Yellow Pop product line.  The pup was colored with Copic markers (Black, C9, C7, C5, Y08, Y04 and Y02)

Newton's Nook Designs' June Release ~ Day 1

Hello!  Welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for Newton's Nook Designs' June Release.  Some ADORABLE sets this month I tell ya!  Allow me to introduce, the very versatile 'In Slow Motion':

Aren't all the little critters endearing?!!  There is even a sloth!!  And this set covers everything from birthdays (on time or belated) to just saying hello for no reason at all.  First I used the happy snail to create a belated birthday card (sadly, a lot of birthdays are springing up on me lately before I have time to get cards out):

I cut think 1/4" strips of red & blue cardstock from my scrap envelopes and pasted them at a diagonal to mimic the postal lines you see on a lot of envelopes (and tried coloring in the snail's letter that way around the edges too) - a great way to create a background and use up some scraps at the same time right?  After all, every day is Earth Day!  ;)  I used a little postage stamp punch by Martha Stewart to create some faux stamps so I could stamp the postmark from the set over them.

For my second card I planned to go really CAS with the cute little inch worm and some tape measure ribbon I found at Michaels (it is authentic too, I lined it up with a ruler and the increments are accurate!):

At first I was going for a stark CAS look with just the wormie and strips, but then I thought the top needed a little something, so I paper pieced the party hats in colors matching the sentiment strips under the tape measure.  So, which is your faovirte and why?

Anniversary Card with NND's Years for Cheers

Hello!  I hope everyone is doing well.  I am featured on the Newton's Nook Designs' blog today.  Since my in-laws' anniversary is this month I decide to make an elegant anniversary card using NND's recently released 'Years for Cheers' stamp set:

49th anniversary card by Crafty Math Chick | Years for Cheers by Newton's Nook Designs

Yep, they've been together 49 years - isn't that wonderful?!!  I went for a formal black & white design with two kinds of embossing (heated with white EP and the D'Vine Swirls CB EF).  My hubby thinks they'll like it - I hope he's right!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog to see my creations, I hope you have a GREAT day!

Cheers!
