Aren't these hedgies the cutest?!!  Since my back was really bothering me I kept my card CAS today but went with an easel style to make it a little different with some happy patterned paper from Doodlebug Design:

Newton's Nook Designs' August Release ~ Day 3 ~ Newton Dreams of New York

Welcome back for the third day of Newton's Nook Designs' August Release.  Today's set is sure to delight all you Newton lovers, introducing "Newton Loves New York':

Purr-sonally I see this set delighting not just Newton lovers and cat lovers, but it is also purr-fect for scrapbooking trips to New York & apple picking trips to the orchard (LOVED doing that as a kid ever fall and eating cider donuts - and look - Jen even included a donut image in the set - SQUEEEE! - Thank you Jen!!), and for cards & presents for teachers too!  Definitely versatile!  And Jen created purr-fectly coordinating dies for this set too!!:

Yaay!

Because I loved apple picking as a kid, I fell in love with Newton holding up that BIG apple and created this fun apple cider packet holder to show him off:

I decided to make my own patterned paper by stamping the small apple image several times on some kraft cardstock and then coloring them in with Copic markers.  I actually tried to color Newton like Hobbes, Jen's other kitty (he needs some online love too!).  One packet of cider mix (which although it isn't the real thing is a pretty good substitute if you ever wish to try it!) can be adhered with a glue dot inside and the packet itself is just a 4.25" by 11" piece of cardstock scored at 5.25" and 5.75" - easy!  I just punched a hole in the top and tied it together with a piece of red burlap ribbon and some jute cord.  Hope you like it!

A Card for Your 'Sweet-Tea'

Welcome!  Today it is my turn to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs' Blog (YAAY!) so I decided to have a little fun with a play on words with this card using the newly released Freshly Squeezed stamp set and elements & sentiments from the previously released 'Sweet Summer' and 'Love a la Carte' stamp sets as well:

I have always loved lemons and lemon flavoring, I do not know why.  I even think lemons themselves look cute, so I had so much fun contently coloring up all these lemons.  I added some clear, yellow and red gloss using my Sakura Glaze gel pens to the lemon rinds, hearts and the mason jar, but I don't know if it shows up much in the picture.    This is a perfect card from my hubby who frequently calls me his 'Sweetie' and loves sweet tea and brewing his own sun tea in the backyard during the summer months.

Hope you like my card!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Newton's Nook Designs' 3 Year Celebration - July Release - Paradise Palms

Welcome back!  Have you been enjoying all the crafty awesomeness Jen has created for us this release?  Day 3 continues with a terrific silhouette set perfect for scrapbooking tropical vacations and cards of all kinds -- introducing 'Paradise Palms':

Since I love to color so much, I don't have nearly enough silhouette style sets, so I was PSYCHED when Jen revealed this one!  Here is my card, I brayered the background using a spectrum ink pad and then heat embossed the palm tree scene with black EP:

My husband said that this card was his favorite of the release (he helped me with the photography, my trigger thumb isn't completely gone and still gives me trouble, so he has a steadier hand these days).  I do love those vibrant colors...

Newton's Nook Designs' 3 Year Celebration - July Release - Party Pops, Pineapple Delight and Tiki Time

Welcome back to the second day of the July reveals for Newton's Nook Designs!  Get ready to feast your eyes on THREE (that's right!  THREE!) stamp sets and THREE (uh huh!) puur-fectly coordinating die sets from Jen today!  Introducing 'Party Pops' (which gave me memories of chasing the ice cream truck as it drove by):

and 'Pineapple Delight':

AND 'Tiki Time' (how cool and original is THIS set?!!):

I always had trouble deciding on ONE ice cream treat off the ice cream truck, so I decided to show off a rainbow of colors & flavors in my 'Party Pops' card:

(for the record, I learned the heard way you cannot just heat emboss some clear EP on brown cardstock and run it through your die cut machine and get perfect glossy chocolate topping - there is an unattractive rim around the edge where the metal die is, and I didn't have time for Glossy Accents to dry, so matte chocolate it is!)

I was feeling elegant with 'Pineapple Time' and created this card with heat embossed gold EP and some gold foil cardstock from American Crafts:

The moment I saw 'Tiki Time' I was transported to my childhood and this yummy Chinese food restaurant we used to frequent as a family.  I was too young to partake, but they served these tropical fruity drinks in kiln fired glossy looking tiki-shaped tall cups; that is what I drew inspiration from with my card:

The Tiki cups are heat embossed with brown EP to give them a glossy appearance like the beverages I remembered.  I had fun accenting them with the accessory images and dies from the sets.  Isn't Jen's 'You're Tiki-rific!' sentiment great?!!  SO original too!!
