Hello my friends & followers! I wanted to get my entry in for Some Odd Girl's August Sketch Challenge before the window of opportunity was completely closed. Here is the sketch:
And here is my card using SURPRISE! - SOG's Preppy Pups set along with SURPRISE! - My Mind's Eye 'Sunshine' paper collection in my favorite color combination: sky blue & chocolate brown - I used to think this color combo.
looked funny, but after seeing it plastered all over the campus of my alma mater for four years it kind of grew on me and since undergrad was such a positive experience those warm, fuzzy feelings probably seeped into that color combination as well - I am always drawn to it when I see it in products in stores. I used Copic colors E74, E77 & E79 to color in the adorable pup. I am going to start needing refills in my E-family soon with all the pups I color, LOL!

I've had some folks inquire about how Taco Papacito is going (for the original story, please see this post). Thankfully, he has found a foster family (even if it isn't mine, sniff sniff!) so he at least isn't living at the vet's office anymore. I am waiting for more information on the cost of his eye surgery so I will know how much needs to be raised and have already had a BUNCH of really sweet ladies representing several stamping companies step up and offer to help with a blog hop and crafty goodies for blog candy - so please keep checking back! And a HUGE thank you to those who have already donated (since Taco is now at a foster, it is probably easier to donate to Jansen's Animal Hospital directly if you are interested in helping out - just ask your donation be put toward Taco Papacito's bill for neutering, shots, and boarding fees). Hello Friends & Followers! I was finally able to begin on my Dare to Get Dirty Challenges hosted by Splitcoaststampers.com (note - you will only be able to see the challenges if you are an SCS Fan Club member). I had hoped to be able to make a separate card for each of the 41ish challenges, but seeing as how we had expected company stay with us this weekend, I got a late start and began to panic that I would not be able to complete them all, and I would like to do so, so for now, I am combining challenges. If I have time to spare at the end I can go back and make cards for the challenges that I overlapped right?
Here is the first card which I created using Some Odd Girl's July Sketch Challenge sketch:
using their adorable Preppy Pups set colored with Copic markers and paired with some patterned paper from MME's 'Sunshine' collection (which I really like!)
(please click on the photo for clearer resolution if necessary). I figured I would write 'to have you as my Daddy' on the inside and let our furbaby give it to his Daddy for his next birthday or father's day (yes, our dog gives cards of his own).
This card also fulfills the following challenges:
My second card was created for two of the DTGD challenges along with Stamp TV's Saturday Night Chat & Challenge to create a floral card with an encouraging sentiment (which I later found had expired the week before, LOL! Hey, it is still inspiration right?). I used GKD's 'You are Not Alone' set along with the Floral Fantasy CB EF and Perfect Plum and Pale Plum cardstocks and chalks to create this card:
I don't know if I am personally in love with this card (I am not much of a floral person or a purple-lover, but someone else might, right?). Since this card contains embossing I am entering it in Milk Coffee's embossing challenge.

Hello Friends & Followers! This evening I am hostessing a virtual stamp night (VSN) challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.com. The theme of this VSN was "The Dog Days of Summer" - so you KNOW being the HUGE dog lover than I am I had to hostess right? My challenge was to create a card with a canine on it that also incorporates heat embossing in the 45 minute time limit. I had SO much trouble deciding which of my dog sets to use, but finally decided on the cute doxie from SOme Odd Girl's 'Preppy Pups':
I heat embossed the pup in black, colored him with my Copic markers and then fussy cut him out (note - when cutting along the edge of embossing it can flake off - be prepared to perform 'damage control' with a black marker if necessary). I used Papertake Weekly's Sketch #26 as a jumping off point:
and created the 'sun' background using a Spellbinders Nestabilities pinking circles die and 'grounded' my doxie using a piece of Garden Green cardstock edged with Martha Stewart's grass border punch. The bone was stamped with Memento Tuxedo black and fussy cut as well, and the WOOF! patterned paper is part of the 'Spoiled Rotten' stack from The Paper Studio (LOVE that stack!!). I wanted to add some puffy clouds or something to the upper left portion of the card for some balance, but I have NO cloud punches or dies... have to remedy that soon!!

Hello Friends & Followers! I hope that those of you who live in Hurricane Sandy's path are safe and sound along with your loved ones and pets. Speaking of pets, when I saw Some Odd Girl's Preppy Pups set, being the HUGS dog lover that I am, I HAD to have it (it even has a doxie!!). So I decided to create this card for their October Sketch Challenge:
See?!! Isn't he the CUTEST?!! I colored him in Copic markers and really like that Spellbinders' Pinking Circle shape - doesn't it add that extra 'pow' factor? I am also donating this card for Lydia's HYCCT1201A Challenge to 'Show Us Your Style' at Splitcoaststampers for the patients at the Andersen Cancer because my style is definitely (1) balenced/symmetrical, (2) featuring pups, (3) with coloring, and (4) fun patterned papers.
