Newton's Nook Designs' Inky Paws Challenge #32 ~ Use an Arrow

Hello Everyone!  I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend and were able to reflect upon those who selflessly sacrificed their lives to help protect the freedoms with which we are all blessed.  It is my turn to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs' Blog (yaay!) so I wanted to make a card to play along with the current Inky Paws Challenge - to use an arrow.

I knew this challenge was the purr-fect opportunity to feature the new Points & Plumes die set.

Owls in Love card by Crafty Math Chick | Magical Dreams & Sweetheart Tails stamp sets & Points & Plumes die set by Newton's Nook Designs

Originally I was going to have one of the owls 'riding' on the arrow, clenching it in its talons.  But I couldn't decide - do I use the feminine shy owl from Sweetheart Tails?  Or the adorable barn owl from Magical Dreams?  (which I purchased long ago and still had yet to use!)  I couldn't decide (big shock there) so I altered the design and used both - yaay!!  I masked them and had them perch on the branch from Hanging Around, which I extended with a ruler and a black gel ink pen.  I simply cut the arrow die cut in half and positioned it so it looked like it was piercing the heart above - VOILA!  Hope you like it!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to look at my card.  Hope your May ends happily and your June was a wonderful beginning!

Newton's Nook Designs' May Release ~ Day 4

Welcome back to the 4th and final day of reveals for Newton's Nook Designs' May release.  Today Jen's debuting another set which will appeal to cat & book lovers alike -- introducing 'A Cozy Day In':

I LOVE high back arm chairs and recliners like that!  Here is my card:

Kitties Cozying Up in the Library Card by Crafty Math Chick | A Cozy Day In stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs

When I first say this set I knew it would be the purr-fect opportunity to break open my 'Dewey Decimal' paper collection from Lawn Fawn.  I realized I could take some of this cool patterned paper and create the illusion that this gal is reading in a library by creating a bookcase behind her with it - what do you think?  Success?  I tried to coordinate with the colors of the book covers and shelves, and tried to color the kitties like Jen's kitties, Newton & Hobbes (I think he is trickier to color), but then accidentally made her brunette (NO!  Jen is blonde!  Epic fail!) so I will just have to make Jen another card.

Newton's Nook Designs' May Release ~ Day 3

Welcome back for another fabulous day of reveals for new Newton's Nook Designs supplies!  Today everyone's favorite kitty is getting studious in 'Newton's Book Club':

How purr-fect would these images be to make gift card holders to Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million or Amazon?!!  Or make a matching set of bookmarks for everyone in your own book club!  Here are some ideas to inspire you:

These two were easy to make - just color & cut out your favorite Newton image and adhere it to a paper strip (I used 120 lb/ cardstock so it would be extra sturdy) and stamp a sentiment that suits you - easy peasy!

OR you could go a little fancier with a corner bookmark that fits over the corner of the page where you stopped reading - Newton will gladly hold your place!

Newton's Nook Designs' May Release ~ Day 2

Welcome back to the second day of Newton's Nook Designs' May Release!  Today Jen is releasing a cool versatile stamp set with some cool patterns and designs as well as TWO dies that complement it.  Introducing 'Adventure Awaits':

And the purr-fectly complementary die set 'Points & Plumes':

AND the purr-fectly complementary die set 'Splendid Stags':

(I personally LOVE these!)

For some reason, my romantic nature won over my sense of adventure and I was channeling Valentine's Day with this set:

I had fun die cutting all the different styles of arrows (so many different styles in the stamp images too!) creating this background design.

The stag dies took me in two directions.  First to Father's Day with this rustic woodgrain card (LOVE woodgrain - the sentiments are from NND's Winston's BBQ BTW):

And then to Christmas:

(Okay, okay, truth be told, my mind went to Christmas first - I saw that silhouette and instantly envisions putting a red rhinestone on that nose!  But Father's Day is more seasonal at the moment, so I uploaded that one first).  Seriously though, how EASY would it be to crank out a BUNCH of these in a short period of time when you are wicked busy with holiday goings on?  The wreath is from 'Happy Little Thoughts' which was revealed yesterday and the 'Merry' sentiment is from the whimsical 'Holiday Wishes' NND stamp set.  I can't wait to play with this design in other color combinations... thought I do love my woodgrain.  ;)

Newton's Nook Designs' May Release ~ Day 1

Welcome to the first day of Newton's Nook Designs' May Release!  Jen has a sweet set with wreathes of a variety of styles for all kind of occasions -- introducing 'Happy Little Thoughts':

and its purr-fectly coordinating dies:

I saw the twiggy looking wreath and instantly envisioned a little birdie nest there, so I borrow the birdies from 'Tweet Talk' and some light blue pearl 'eggs' and created this card:

Enjoy the Little Things Bird Nest card by Crafty Math Chick | Happy Little Thoughts & Tweet Talk stamp sets by Newton's Nook Designs

The card base is Soft Sky (I love the look of red with light blue lately!) and created the little nest by cutting little twigs out free hand from some brown cardstock scraps.  This card speaks to me because I enjoy birdwatching and have several feeders around our property to lure my little feathered friends to our yard so I can watch them.  So, this is one of the 'little things' I enjoy.  It can be tricky trying to explain to the neighbors that my binoculars are solely for the purpose of birdwatching, LOL!, but hopefully they believe me because it is the truth.

Newton's Nook Designs' May Flowers Blog Hop

Hello Everyone!  Jen is in a springy mood and wanted to celebrate with a festive floral hop, so we are showing off Newton's Nook Designs' sets with floral elements.  I chose to highlight NND's 'Basket of Wishes' with this Mother's Day card for my MIL:

Floral Mother's Day Card by Crafty Math Chick | Basket of Wishes by Newton's Nook Designs

I used sentiments from 'Simply Seasonal' and 'Wagon of Wishes' to create the sentiment and some glittered floral patterned paper from a DCWV mat stack and topped it with a petite bow tied from some pink & white twine.  My husband prefers cards on the simple & classic side, so that is usually what I am asked to make for his Mom.

Wild About Mom with Newton's Nook Designs

Hello everyone!  Today is my day to be featured on Newton's Nook Designs' blog!  YAAY!  I decided to share a Mother's Day card I made using NND's 'Wild Child' set:

My Mom loves giraffes so I used the Mother & baby giraffe image paired with a 'Happy Mother's Day' sentiment created using NND's Simply Seasonal and some giraffe patterned paper by DCWV's Safari Stack and a few flowers and rhinestones from WAY back in my embellishments:
