Newton's Nooks Designs' Inky Paws Challenge

Hello!  I hope all of my American friends had a relaxing, enjoyable and reflective Memorial Day weekend.  I am featured on the Newton's Nook Designs' Blog today with a card I created for the current Inky Paws Challenge - a color combo of coral, peach and mint:

I decided to create a summery card using Newton's Summer Vacation:

Kitty Innertube Card by Crafty Math Chick | Newton's Summer Vacation by Newton's Nook Designs

I created the appearance that Newton's was floating on the water by taking a kraft knife and cutting a slice along the curved bottom of the innertube image and then sliding one of the mint strips punched with a wave border punch by Fiskars underneath and then layered the other punched strips on top.  I also stamped and colored the beach ball image from Beach Party, punched it out and stuck it between the waves too.

There is still plenty of time left for you to play along with the Inky Paws challenge too - you might even win a NND store credit if you do, so join us!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Newton's Nook Designs May Release ~ Final Day

Welcome back for the third and last day of sneak peeks for the May release for Newton's Nook Designs.  Today Jen's sharing a mini set perfect for all kinds of occasions, from birthdays to anniversaries to New Years celebrations, even for pocket pages of visiting wineries or going wine tasting!  Introducing: ' Years for Cheers':

First I decide to make a card for my hubby for our next anniversary:

(my hubby prefers simple elegant cards so I didn't embellish beyond this, even though inside I was screaming to add glitter and rhinestones, LOL!  I hoe the little silver bow from Michaels $1 bin wasn't too much for a man!).

I have a confession - as hard as I try, I usually end up having a few holiday cards that just don't make it to the mail in time - we are a military family and we move a lot, our friends move a lot, and trying to keep up with all the address changes can be daunting.  So I always make a few 'Happy New Years!' cards for folks whose addresses I don't learn of in time.  This set is perfect for that:

Happy 2016 pink foil New Years card by Crafty Math Chick | Years for Cheers by Newton's Nook Designs

Since this one wasn't for hubby I decide to go a little flirty with pink and gold accents.  I sliced up some strips from this cool golf foil vellum from a DCWV stack that I LOVE and tacked it down onto some Blushing Bride cardstock (looks like embossing, doesn't it?) and stamped the numbers individually and punched them with a 1/2" punch (they fit perfectly!) and matted them in black with a 3/4" punch.  So, one down, a few more to go... the trick now is not to misplace it before December so I will have it when I need it (though I could always pop off the '6' and add a '7' in its place for the following year if I had to, right?).  So, which care was your favorite?

Newton's Nook Designs May Release ~ Day 1

Welcome to the first day of Newton's Nook Designs' May Release!  Today we are debuting a set perfect for get well soon cards, scrapbooking the recovery of your furry family members or thank you cards for your favorite veterinarian, introducting 'Newton's Sick Day':

Aren't these images and sentiments purr-fect for all kinds of cards surely to perk up anyone 'feline' under the weather?!!  I could not wait to ink them up!  The first card I created is a masculine get well card (don't have nearly enough of those in my stash):

Sick Kitty with Kleenex card by Crafty Math Chick | Newton's Sick Day by Newton's Nook Designs

Can you see I used a tiny piece of real Kleenex for Newton's tissue box?  I paper pieced it to match the background patterned paper (which is from a retired Stampin' Up Patterns Pack I believe).  The kitty image is colored with Copic markers, I tried to make Newton's a greyish version of a Siamese fur pattern, not sure if such a cat exists in real life...

And don't you dog lovers think this set is just for the cat lovers either!  Just check out my second card:

Doxie vet thank you card by Crafty Math Chick | Newton's Sick Day & Dleightful Doxies by Newton's Nook Designs

I drew in a tummy bandage on one of the cute doxies from NND's Delightful Doxies set, colored him like my Ty baby, and fussy cut him out.  Then I created the big 'Thank You' sentiment using the tiny (and can I just say adorable?) image from the set (yeah, a whole lotta paper piecing here too, luckily those little baidaids are easy to cut out) and placed the doxie out in front (so the vet would know who was sending the card of course).  I am totally going to use these two sets to scrapbook Ty's surgeries too (yep, the poor little thing has had more than one!).
