Newton's Nook Designs First Anniversary Blog Hop!

Welcome friends, followers and hoppers!  Newton's Nook Designs is so excited to be celebrating their ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY - one whole year of getting our paws inky!  To celebrate we have an amazing blog hop featuring our brand new design team and some AWESOME Special Guests!  You are going to love all the fun inspiration they're sharing using Newton's Nook Designs stamps.

In honor of Newton's Nook Designs' 1st anniversary I decided to use one of the 1st NND stamp sets that I purchased, 'Just Say Cheese,' along with a technique I used for my 1st post as a NND design team member - the waterfall card, for my hop creation.

If you have never made a waterfall card before, they are much easier than they look.  There is a good tutorial for them here.  One of my BIL's birthday is coming up, so I decided to make a birthday themed card.  Here is what it looks like from the front, and here are close-ups of the different waterfall panels:

I stamped the little mousie on a Post-It note and cut him out to act as a mask and then stamped the cheese wedge over him so he looks like he is sitting on top.  So, do you think my BIL will like this birthday card?  or is it too 'cheesy' - BWAHAHAHA! (yes, I amuse myself).

I have to say, this is my second term with NND, and I feel SO lucky to be a part of such a terrific company - adorable images to create with, a fantastically talented & sweet owner/illustrator, and camaraderie with a fun groups of creative ladies!  Thank you so much Jen for this opportunity.  I am humbled and blessed and wish you continuing success with NND and every happiness in life.  And thank you to my teamies as well for your support and continuing inspiration as well!

Newton's Nook Designs July Release - Final Day

Aren't these images just precious?  Since my craft supplies are limited while I unpack, but our sunblock isn't (I am on several prescription medications that increase photosensitivity, so I burn really fast, sorry if that is an overshare).  I decided to make a cute tag for our SPF container:

Newton's little sunglasses are actually stamped on silver paper and paper pieced.  How cute would it be to make fun tags or bottle bands for SPF containers passed out at sporting events or pool parties?

Newton's Nook Designs July Release - Day 3

Welcome back for Day 3 of Newton's Nook Designs' July Release and you are going to be tickled pink by today's set: Flirty Flamingos

Seriously, are they not the sweetest little flamingos you have ever SEEN?!!  I certainly think they are!  I especially love the two gazing into one another's eyes, so I wanted to use them in a love themed card.  However, since I am still unpacking my craft supplies (it will probably take me several weeks to unpack them all now that I am resumed work) and I have to work with what has been discovered so far.  Well, all of my patterned paper is still boxed up, so what do you do when this happens?  You improvise!  I had luckily unpacked some washi tape and found some that had hearts and shades of pink and created my own DP!

I decided to go for a window card and cut out the heart-shaped window using a Spellbinders Nestabilities die so the cute flamingos in love can peek through.  Here is the inside:

Newton's Nook Designs July Release - Day 2

Welcome back followers, friends & hoppers!  Ready for Day 2 of Newton's Nook Designs' July reveals?  Today we are debuting 'Beach Party":

All of Newton kitty's fun friends enjoying some summer fun!  I chose to highlight little Winston bear for my project:

I stamped Winston twice, once on the cardstock and then again on a Post-It note to create a mask so I could make it look like he was leaning up against one of the surf boards, and gave them the appearance of being stuck in the sand by tearing some kraft cardstock (still unpacking remember?  Supplies are limited so I had to be creative...).

Newton's Nook Designs July Release - Day 1

Helloooooo again Friends & Followers!  Thanks so much for your patience during my brief hiatus from blogging - we were involved with a cross country move and had an extended stay in a hotel... glad that is all in the past.  We are still unpacking but it is time to take a break from that to celebrate Newton's Nook Designs July Release - WOO HOO!  Just wait 'til you see what Jen has in store for you!  Starting with today's revealed set: Newton's Daydream:

When I saw this I knew I wanted to fill that daydream bubble with all the fun things that might be going through Newton kitty's mind as he napped:

I borrowed the ball of yarn, the fish bone and one of the wind up mousies from Newton's Antics and the wrapped fish to supplement the wind up mousie from Newton's Daydream.  Those look like good kitty thoughts, right?

Happy Anniversary!

Hello Friends & Followers!  As you read this I should be arriving in our new state, though I am not sure of the availability of our house at the time I author this post (wish me luck!).  

I wanted to share the card I made for my hubby for our anniversary using Newton's Nook Designs' 'Sweet Summer' set and Cuttlebug's Preserves embossing folder:

I masked the pear and stamped it twice (needed a pair of pears right!  Good homonyms lesson for your little ones!) and colored them in using Copic markers.  I just love the little hearts Jen added to the pears when she illustrated this set.  

'Sweet Summer' is a really adorable and versatile set, I would definitely consider adding it to your NND collection if you don't already have it!
