Can you believe it?!!  Newton's Nook is THREE YEARS OLD!  WOO HOO!  TO celebrate Jen is releasing a TON of new products this week that are sure to delight.  We begin today introducing some fun summer themed sets -- 'Freshly Squeezed':

Here is my 'Freshly Squeezed' card I tried to create something with a country feel with some yellow & craft gingham paper from a DCVW stack and some yellow & white twine:

And here is my 'Dog Days of Summer' card where I did a little bit of reverse stamping to create TWO cute hounds sharing an ice cream treat (see the tiny eyelashes I added to the girl puppy?):

Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Day 1

Hello Everyone!  Today's is the first day of sneak peeks for the April release from Newton's Nook Designs.  Today is going to be a set to delight doxie & doggie lovers everywhere - introducing Delightful Doxies:

Aren't they SOOOO CUTE?!!  Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE dogs - and doxies hold a special place in my heart as my Ty baby is a doxie mix.  So you know I did a happy dance when Jen shared this set.  So many cute doxie images in this set - which to use?  I decided to make a love themed-support card:

I like it when characters are facing one another so I reverse stamped the doxie on the left, and made her a lady doxie with the additional of a petite bow accessory image form the set and had her beau face her.  I gotta tell ya - those black & red doxies are tricky to color!  I thought they looked cute with their little doxie butts in the air - heh heh heh!  Added some balloons punched from a Martha Stewart balloon punch for more pops of color, though part of me wishes that I just left it with the pink & red balloons, so the doxies had more of a spotlight without the distraction of the balloons - what do you think?

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #18: One Layer Cards

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone in cold corners if the world is warm & safe today.  Time for a new Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge!  This time Jen has chosen: 'One Layer Cards'!

Easy peasy right?  So you have no excuse not to play along!  I decided to use the cute koala bear from 'Hanging Around' for a support card for a recovering friend:

I added flock to the koala bear (and his tail and the leaves) to make him extra soft, see?

To create the illusion of another layer I punched an oval shape from a piece of scrap paper and sponged some Pool Party ink in the cut-out center and then stamped the sentiment in the middle of it - pretty cool huh?  

Additional Challenges:

• Since the flock made him soft & fuzzy I am entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge to 'Add a Little Texture' (did you know that Simon Says Stamps carries Newton's Nook Designs stamps too?  They do!!), and
• Sparkle 'n Sprinkle February 2015 - Anything Goes with loose glitter, embossing powder or flocking  (obviously, I used flocking on this card).

Newton's Nook Designs August Release - Day 1

Hello Everyone!  Time for another adorable release from Newton's Nook Designs!  WOO HOO!  Today we are revealing a set featuring several cute critters called "Hanging Around":

See?  Told you they were cute!  I couldn't decide which to feature so I decided, 'why choose?' and used 'em alllllll:

I've seen card in the past that have critters stamped on patterened papers and I always think it looks so nice so I decided to give it a try with a bunch of coordinating prints from DCVQ's Flower Shower mat stack (they were a bit thinning than their 12 x 12 stacks and easier to fussy cut, and there was a whooooole lotta fussy cutting going on on this card!) and most of the critters have two different prints on them.  They all have popped up sections and were designed to look like they were grabbing on to that pretty piece of Twinery Twine 'held' in place by the shiny little clips (though capturing their shine without glare was difficult).  So, you likey?

My First Some Odd Girl Card

Hello Friends & Followers!  I hope that those of you who live in Hurricane Sandy's path are safe and sound along with your loved ones and pets.  Speaking of pets, when I saw Some Odd Girl's Preppy Pups set, being the HUGS dog lover that I am, I HAD to have it (it even has a doxie!!).  So I decided to create this card for their October Sketch Challenge:

See?!!  Isn't he the CUTEST?!!  I colored him in Copic markers and really like that Spellbinders' Pinking Circle shape - doesn't it add that extra 'pow' factor?  I am also donating this card for Lydia's HYCCT1201A Challenge to 'Show Us Your Style' at Splitcoaststampers for the patients at the Andersen Cancer because my style is definitely (1) balenced/symmetrical, (2) featuring pups, (3) with coloring, and (4) fun patterned papers.

Stressing the Distressing

Hello friends & followers!  Hope you have been well.  Today I have a card for the New Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge - Distressing.  Well, to me distressing has always involved newsprint and either a masculine image or a coffee themed image (for some reason coffee and newspapers go together for me, like on a Sunday morning) and I had neither by WnW so I decided to try something new and crinkled up a piece of vellum (more difficult than newspaper) and inked it with white ink instead of my traditional brown hues.  I also distressed the edges of Wags 'n Whiskers' pretty 'Say a Prayer' Angel and tore some pieces of pre-glittered white DCWV cardstock to give her clouds to float on and added some Diamond Stickles to her wings for some additional sparkle.  Maybe I should have cut her out and put her on the cloud?  I embossed and sponged the sentiment from MFT 'Essential Sentiments' set inside of a ribbon tag Nestabilities die (can you even see that it is embossed and sponged?).  So, what do you think?  (Please click on the photo itself for clearer resolution)
