Happy Birthday with Newton's Nook Designs

Good morning!  Hope those of you getting buried with snow are staying warm & cozy.

Today I am featured on the Newton's Nook Designs blog.  Since I never to seem to have enough birthday cards in my stash, I decided to go with a birthday theme using Simply Sentimental

and a color combination that would work well for both genders (a nice happy yellow!):

Personally, I think yellow is such a bright, cheery, happy color, and I don't think it is used nearly enough these days.  I thought the black matting made the yellow POP that much more.  I also tend to be drawn to bold vertical stripes for some reason, so I really like this patterned paper.  It might not be clear from the photograph, but I added yellow rhinestones between each flourish from my Fiskars border punch (I love that scrolly design!)

Thanks so much for stopped by and seeing my creations!  I hope you have a terrific day!

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #17

Hello everyone!  Today is the first Inky Paws Challenge of 2015.  For Inky Paws Challenge #17, Jen challenges us to use something heart-shaped in your creation featuring Newton's Nook Designs:

(Don't those cookies make your mouth water?  YUM!)  I met the challenge using Flirty Flamingos, which I honestly believe is the cutest flamingo set I have seen anywhere!!

Flirty Flamingos | 3x4 photopolymer Stamp Set | Newton's Nook Designs
to make this card:

I used various sizes of heart-shaped Nestabilities dies by Spellbinders to create this heart-shaped card with a window in the middle for the flamingos to peek out of.

I am also entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's 'Have a Heart' Wednesday Challenge (did you know Simon Says Stamp carries Newton's Nook Designs sets too?  They do!!).

Won't you take the Inky Paws Challenge and play along with us?  You have until Friday, February 6th to play along and you must use a NND image (though there are some freebies on the NND blog)on a new creation.  Check out the Newton's Nook Designs blog for all the details - including how you could WIN a $10 store credit to NND (and if there are more than 15 participants, Jen will pick TWO winners!  WHOOP!)!

And if you happen to have some extra valentines lying around - I hope you will consider donating them to Winter Sims' Cards from the Heart Card Drive - she is collecting valentines for distribution to children spending valentine's day in hospitals.  You get to do a good deed, spread a little love, and even have a chance to win some fun crafty prizes in the process!  Visit HERE for more information.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend crafty friends!

Newton's Nook Designs January Release ~ Day 2

Welcome back for the second day of Newton's Nook Designs January Release!  Today 'Newton Dreams of Paris' makes its debut, with lots of images and sentiments perfect for valentines day, anniversaries, any expression of love, scrapbooking trips to Paris or even just saying hello - how's that for versatility?!!

Just seeing the images in the package gave me the impression that little Newton in the lower right corner was looking up at the Newton kitty in the air balloon, so I went with it with this card:

(please click on the photo for a larger image).  The background is from Echo Park's 'Be Mine' stack - lots of great pinks, greys and black & white in that collection (lots of Parisian elements to coordinate with this stamp set as well!) so I did a bit of paper piecing here with both Newton's and all four air balloons.  I don't know if it shows up in the photo, but I added some glitter glue to the hearts on the card for an added touch of sparkle, cards are more festive with a little sparkle, right?

Would you like to win 'Newton Dreams of Paris'?
This set will be given away to TWO lucky winners!!

Here's how to win:

Newton's Nook Designs January Release ~ Day 1

Welcome!  Today we are showing off Newton's Nook Design's soon-to-be-released set: Wild About Zoo:

As you can see, the set has several images of adorable animals with sentiments perfect for valentine's day, anniversaries, and other fun expressions of love!  I decide to use little lion Newton and wrapped the twine Jen wrapped around the sets when she shipped them to create a fun texture mane:

(please click on the image for a larger picture).  I converted Newton from Newton's Day Dream into a lioness to snuggle with placed over this perfect background scene from a sheet from DCWV's 8" x 8" Safari stack.

Newton's Nook Designs Flash Challenge: Thank you!

Happy 2015 Friends & Followers!  I hope you had a happy new year and that 2015 will also be a healthy & crafty one for you!  Jen decided it would be fun to begin the new year reflecting on what we are thankful for and is having a Flash Challenge with a Thank you theme and even created a new freebie digi on the blog just for you!

For this specific challenge she is even lifting the requirement that NND images be used - that's right, you can use ANY image and play along this time!  However, this is also a SHORT challenge - you only have through Saturday, January 10th to play along and the winner will be drawn randomly.  So I hope you will join us and play along!

I certainly have a LOT to be thankful for, especially at this time.  A lot has happened since my last post - our sweet furbaby Ty was in a lot of pain, we discovered he had a damaged cervical disc and he needed ventral slot surgery.  The vet called last night and said the surgery went well, so now I just have to hope he has a smooth recovery with no complications.  So, any prayers or positive thoughts you care to offer on his behalf are most appreciated.  Anyone who knows me knows he means the world to me.

Newton's Nook Designs has son many great sets with images and sentiments that are perfect for expressing gratitute, I selected Sweet Summer (which happens to be on sale right now as well - bonus!)

and used some retired patterned paper by Imaginisce that I LOVE to create this card:

I used a corner rounder to give the card more of a watermelon-slice-feel (when I die cut circles and fold them in half and cards are so small it is difficult to write much on the inside).

SInce The Mod Squad Challenge was also having a 'thank you' theme, I am submitting this card for that challenge as well!

I know I never have enough thank you cards in my stash - hope you will join us and play along!  Happy 2015 and thanks again for your prayers for our furbaby.
