Newton's Nook Designs Post ~ Newton SPINS over YARN!

Hello.  Today it is my turn to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog.  When I first saw Newton kitty on the BIG ball of yarn from the newly released 'Newton Unwinds' set, I immediately pictured it on a spinner card - so that is what I made for you today:

Newton Loves Yarn Spinner Card by Crafty Math Chick | Newton Unwinds stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs

I created the background of yarn balls in all the colors of the rainbow using images from Newton Unwinds and the previously released 'Newton's Antics' set.  I colored Newton's HUGE yarn ball to match this pretty variegated yarn I purchased at Michaels (Loops & Threads Charisma Baby yarn, in the color 'Toy Train', you can kind of see it to the right of the card in the picture) that I am going to use for a prayer blanket for my Ty Baby (he is having a lump removed on Friday, we are praying that is all that will need to be done and he can heal afterwards without further treatment; any prayers or positive thoughts you can offer on his behalf are appreciated more than you know!).  Since it common in crochet to finish things off with a scalloped shell stitched border, I used my shell shaped Martha Stewart edger punch to highlight the sentiment at the bottom.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and thank you for any prayers offered up on our Ty Baby's behalf.

Aaaaaand, the purr-fectly coordinating DIES:

How cute is that scripty 'meow'?!!  Awwww!

I can't wait to print out pictures of all my crocheted & knitted projects so I can scrapbook them with this set!  EEEEEEE!  But until I get the pictures printed I christened this set with a card that will be purr-fect to accompany my fellow yarn enthusiasts when they need a pick-me-up:

I was excited for the opportunity to use this pretty patterned paper by American Crafts that I had been hoarding - doesn't Newton fit right in?  I colored him in rust shades and made his yarn ball teal to match the accents in the background.

Newton's Nook Designs February Release ~ Day 1

Welcome to the first day of Newton's Nook Designs February Release!  Today Jen is debuting a set that is perfect for scrapbooking your culinary achievements, recipe cards, tags for homebaked treats as well as cards for birthday and other occasions -- introducing 'Made From Scratch':

And it even has coordinating DIES:

Since my birthday card stash is always low, I decided to make a birthday card using the 'whisking you a happy birthday' sentiment (isn't that original?  I just love that!) paired with some patterned paper of the same them from Hobby Lobby:

I just love how the cooking utensils have their own little die cuts!  SQUEEE!  It doesn't show up in the photo well, but the golden elements on the cardstock are glittery IRL - pretty!

Newton's Nook Designs' Sweet Treats Blog Hop

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the 2016 Newton's Nook Designs' Sweet Treats Blog Hop!  Jen thought it would be fun to inspire you all with some homemade treat holders featuring her adorably illustrated stamps just in time to whip up some Valentine's Day Treats!

I thought I would show you something a little different and make a few non-traditional Valentine treats.  I hope you like them!

Anyone who knows me knows I am a HUGE fan of EVERYTHING 'DOG' - so I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to make and show off a Valentine for your favorite canine (OOOH!  That rhymes!  Jen - note for future sentiments!  LOL!)

Lab-Adore Clear Valentine Biscuit Box by Crafty Math Chick | Fetching Friendship by Newton's Nook Designs

I took one of those clear acrylic card boxes designed to hold  a set of 4.25" x 5.5" cards & envelopes and filled it with mini Milk Bone Biscuits (yes, Ty was very attentive of his Mommy whilst I created this project, LOL!).  I used a Fiskars paw print border punch on both sides of a strip of Blushing Bride cardstock.  Then I took a strip of white cardstock and created a patterned background using the heart, outline paw print (which is stamped in pink and extremely light in this photo), and solid & outline bone images along with the 'LAB-Adore you!' sentiment, perfect for Valentine's Day!  Then I took the sweet Labrador image from 'Fetching Friendship' that had a tennis ball in his mouth and 'replaced' it with a red heart I punched out by gluing the heart in the appropriate place and paper piecing the top part of his head & upper jaw (which had been stamped separately, colored and fussy cut out) over it - TA DA!  Instant way to make this cute puppy hold anything in his mouth!  Adhered them together and wrapped them around the box as a decorative band - VOILA!  Canine Valentine complete!  :)

I purchased 'Campfire Tails' a long time ago and still had yet to give it any love, so I looked for a way to create a masculine valentine using it.  I have always found masculine valentines to be such a challenge - I know my husband doesn't like seeing pink on cards, so you have to get creative to come up with things to appeal to the men in our lives.  I saw the 'hooked on you' sentiment and thought 'How perfect would this be to pair with Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers or Swedish fish?!!'  Not too 'girly' right?  So that is what I did, and since I am a very indecisive person and couldn't decide which snack would appeal to my viewers most - I created toppers for both (plus - double snackage for us that way right?  LOL!)

Winston's Fisherman Valentine Treats by Crafty Math Chick | Campfire Tails by Newton's Nook Designs

So, which coloring of Winston do you like better?  Which treat is your favorite?  A little handy tip - if you buy the small box (designed for home movies for 98 cents at the time of this posting?) the fish come in a little sealed plastic bag already - I just took that (it measured 3.75" wide) and folded one end over and made a topper for it - no reason to simply empty it into an additional plastic baggie, right?  (and am I the only one surprised that is all the Swedish fish you get from such a big box?... just curious)

Would you like to win a $10 store credit to Newton's Nook Designs?
We're giving them out to TWO lucky winners!!

In "Love' with Newton's Nook Designs

Hello!  We weathered the blizzard of 2016 here.  Over 2 feet of snow, drifts up to 5 feet in some areas and higher than that after plowing, but we were blessed and didn't lose power or have trouble with the roof (YAAY!) so I can just reap the benefits of all of my yarn organization efforts right before the storm!  (I envisioned the roof collapsing and soaking all of my precious yarn and ruining it - couldn't let that happen!  So almost all of it is in plastic bins now, neatly organized by brand and type, YAAY!  My husband teases me whenever he sees disasters like tornadoes or floods or hurricanes on the news 'There go your stamps Honey, allllll your designer papers just floooooating/blooooowing away... bye bye... neeeeever to be seen again...  Ooops - it's taking your yarn now too!  Oh no!  What will you do!')

I am helping out with a post on the Newton's Nook Blog again today.  I decided to keep it simple and play along with Newton's Inky Paws Challenge 28: Love Theme using Winged Wishes and the new Darling Hearts die set:

CAS Simple Love Valentine by Crafty Math Chick | Winged Wishes & Darling Hearts Dies by Newton's Nook Designs

I was inspired by the delicate necklaces that are comprised of scripty words and knotted one of of some thin twine and threaded it through the loop of the 'l' and then repeated the process for the loop of the 'e' and let the cute little birdies be lifting the scripty love up that way.  I don't know if I will give this one to my husband for Valentine's Day yet, he already saw it and commented how much he liked it, and he tends to favor CAs style cards, but nothing ever seem special enough for my hubby, I mean he is my HUSBAND - you know?  Do you ever feel the same way about your family members?

Thanks so much for stopping by to see my card.  I hope you have a wonderful week!
