Keeping it Simple with Navy & Coral

Hello Friends & Followers!  I have two cards for your viewing pleasure this evening.  I was inspired by the color combination of the last (hopefully just for a while) Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge 58; 

Kim, the owner of Wilson Designs and hostess of the OWTC Challenge Blog needs a little 'Kim time', so I wish her well and keep my fingers crossed that things settle down and she is back to it soon.  ;)  So naturally I had to use her 'Nauticool' set by Wilson Designs to create this CAS card:

(Please click on the photos for clearer resolution).  I was having so much fun with this color combination (and I have officially used Cameo Coral more this week than I have perhaps in my entire life put together) that I went on to create this card using 'Dance' by There She Goes Clear Stamps (who is having sneak peeks and a release party Saturday night BTW...) that I was having fun with the other day:

My original intention with this card was to use it for a 'not more than 1/3 of the white space covered' challenge, but the mathematician in me could not in good faith enter it, I just sense I've covered more than a third of the white cardstock.  ;)  I didn't have any navy pearls (DOH!) so I took a marker and colored in a white one (note - if you plan on doing this too - I recommend waiting until the card is finished otherwise so as not to smear the color off the pearls, or onto anything else, as you attach it to the base).  This card also fulfills the requirements of Really Reasonable Ribbon's Challenge 30: 'Keep it Clean' (with ribbon).


Well, that is about it for the evening.  I am getting all excited for Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoaststampers - if you haven't played before it is wicked fun and I highly recommend it!  It is a great way to jump start your mojo and add a ton of cards to your stash in a short period of time and meet a lot of nice stampers too, I myself have made many a friend via VSN at SCS.  Note to self - clear a space in the spare bedroom to set up the photo cube for the weekend... charge camera battery... clean scrubber... but you don't need to listen to me think aloud.  ;)

Wilson Designs Chocolate & Navy Duet

Hello friends and followers, happy June!  Today I have two cards for your viewing pleasure, both created for Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge 54 using the Wilson Designs' Nautic-COOL set and the colors chocolate, navy and white based on this inspirational picture:

The first card is based on Sketch Saturday's Sketch from Week 157:

I used Brilliant Blue cardstock, embossed in my Cuttlebug using the D'Vine swirls EF to give the appearance of water, and Chocolate Chip cardstock, embossed using the Distressed Stripes EF, and some strategically placed twine.  The image panel and the little life preserver (isn't it adorable?) are popped up using dimensionals.  This card also fulfills the requirements of the following additional challenges:

• Cards for Men Challenge 11 - no patterned paper,
• Ribbon Carousel Challenge 5 - anything goes with ribbon or twine,
• Fussy & Fancy Friday Challenge - to make a card for a man or a boy, and
• Catered Crop Follow the Recipe Challenge 13 - I used the following ingredients from the original recipe in my card: 

1. colors - blue & white
2. stamps - sailboats
3. coloring mediums - stamping ink
4. embellishments - twine

My second card is based on Verve's Mojo Monday Sketch 193:

I decided to go with the round version of the sketch, since it reminded me of that cute little life preserver and created this card:

I cut out the little life preserver, punched a hole in the middle using a 1/4" circle punch, and threaded some thick jute twine through it.   Just as with my first card, this card also fulfills the following additional challenges:

• Cards for Men Challenge 11 - no patterned paper,
• Ribbon Carousel Challenge 5 - anything goes with ribbon or twine, 
• Fussy & Fancy Friday Challenge - to make a card for a man or a boy, and
• Catered Crop Follow the Recipe Challenge 13 - I used the following ingredients from the original recipe in my card:

So, which is your favorite?  I actually think I prefer the first one.

Hello friends & followers.  I hope you are well.  Today I have two cards for your viewing pleasure.  The first was created for Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge 53 using the colors sand, light blue and light green inspired by this picture:

Here is my card:

This card is special to me because I won the stamp set I used to create it, Nautic-COOL by Wilson Designs by competing in last week's Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge and I really, really like it!  So I hope this encourages you to enter some of the OTWC challenges yourself so that you can win some cool prizes too, I think Kim even gives you a second entry if you use Wilson Designs stamps (SWEET!).  The sails and boat were paper pieced from a retired Stampin' Up! hostess patterns pack.  The entire panel is raised on Pop Its and then the little life-preserver (isn't it darling?) further raised up - I used a 1/4" circle punch to carve out the center and weave this cool, thick jute cord through to secure it for a further Nauticool effect.  ;)  This card also fulfills the requirements of the following challenges:

Wee Memories Challenge 57 - Stamp It! (images were stamped),

Paper Sundaes Challenge 70 - Pop It Up! (I used two layers of dimensionals here), and

Charisma Cardz Challenge 21 - Boy oh Boy! (make a card for a man or a boy).

My second card was created for Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 138 over at Splitcoaststampers.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card based on it using TE's 'For the Love of Cupcakes' set:

That adorable patterned paper is by Doodlebug (I am pretty sure I got it from one of TE's cool kits that they sell with coordinating papers, ribbons, glitter and other embellishments years ago).  I added yellow and cotton candy Stickles to two of the cupcakes and attached petite rhinestones using a craft knife to the last one.  I thought a little celery button tied with some pink twine would be a nice accent for balance at the bottom corner with the sentiment.  This card also fulfills the requirements of the following challenges as well:

Karen's Doodles Challenge 64 - Make it Sparkle!,

inky Impressions Challenge 16 - Shine On! (use sparkly or shiny elements), and

Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge 155 - to make a birthday card.
